Inverness Marina

WelcomeVälkommen

You obviously are interested in Scotland!

One of the last truly un- spoilt sailing areas in Europe where, even in July and August it is possible to sail for days and only see a few other yachts.

Only 2 days sail from the Norwegian West coast and about three days from the Swedish West coast will get you to Inverness Marina. The waters of the Moray Firth are un- crowded with many small harbours that will make you welcome. You may even pass our resident school of bottle nosed dolphins. Inverness Marina is at the entrance to the Caledonian Canal the passage of which will take you to the glorious West Coast at Fort William. The canal is 60 miles long and will take a leisurely 2 or 3 days to transit.

The Caledonian Canal is,without doubt, one of the great waterways of the world linking Inverness to Fort William all the locks and bridges are manned and the passage through,in itself,is spectacular passing through wonderful scenery and amazing wildlife. There are two lovely diversions, if a break is required from the boat: The Great Glen Way It is possible for some crew members to walk parts or all and, similarly, the same can be done on the Great Glen Mountainbike Trail

Look upon Fort William as the gateway to the West Coast and Outer Hebrides. Lots of sheltered waters and secluded anchorages with perfect depth for anchoring are everywhere and the possibilities are endless for exploration. With the western outlook the sunsets are dramatic and the northerly latitude gives long summer days and short nights. The area is well charted and there are many marinas apart from the thousands of secluded bays where you can spend pleasant evenings alone. At many places just row the dinghy to the local pub for dinner (we can give you a list of recommended eating venues up and down the coast, close to your anchorage).

For the more adventurous the Outer Hebrides are a day`s sail away and make the West coast seem crowded! You can really explore without seeing other boats.

Of course, many Scandinavians have been for a cruise to Scotland and back during the summer holiday but with the opening of the new marina we can suggest that you sail over in the spring, cruise the West Coast during the summer. It is even possible to weekend sail using the regular flights to Inverness (15mins away) or Aberdeen, Edinburgh or Glasgow(two/three hours away)and leave your boat with us for the winter ready to repeat the operation the next summer.(even two summers would not be enough to really explore and see the many fine places available).

We offer full marina facilities, lift out, storage ashore (on cradles), or in the water, if you prefer. Winterizing, engine service, most repairs and maintenance jobs, gas system checks can be done by our experienced and qualified staff. We are agents for all of the popular electronic producers.

We can arrange to have your boat serviced and provisioned, ready to go should you wish and you will always be made very welcome.

We have very well stocked chandlery and our engineers can sort out most problems you may have.

Think about it, give us a call and let us persuade you to make the trip and leave your boat for a few seasons, you will not be disappointed.
